In today’s world, there is a solution to almost every aging problem, one of them being wrinkles and sagging skin. As you age, you may notice an increasing number of wrinkles, fine lines, and other signs of aging on your face and neck area. You may wonder whether there is a safe procedure to eliminate them and bring back your youth.
The good news is, yes, there is. With botox treatments, you can bring back the youthful appearance you miss. However, such treatments require proper before and aftercare for the best results. It is recommended that you speak with a doctor at the Laser & Skin Care Center for the best instructions.
Precautions to take before botox treatments
- Timing is everything.
You want to schedule your botox treatment at the right time. If you have a big event coming up, you should get your treatment done at least two weeks before the date. Since these treatments do not usually take more than 15-20 minutes, you can get them done on a busy day too.
- Stay away from alcohol.
It is recommended to refrain from drinking alcoholic drinks for at least 24 hours before the procedure. Alcohol has blood thinning properties and can increase your chances of bleeding and bruising during the treatment.
- Do not skip breakfast.
When you are excited or nervous about something, you may skip breakfast before leaving the house. However, drinking lots of fluids and food is recommended on the morning of the scheduled treatment. It will give you the energy to avoid lightheadedness during the treatment.
Aftercare
- Wait before getting other treatments.
If you plan on getting additional facial treatments after one, you should probably schedule it for the next day. Waiting for at least 24 hours is recommended before going through other facial procedures.
- Avoid heavy tasks.
Even though botox facial treatments require little to no downtime or recovery, you should still avoid strenuous activities for at least 6 hours after the treatment. This helps prevent the Botox remain in the injected area and not somewhere else.
- Take a break from makeup.
You want to avoid putting on makeup or skincare items on your face for at least 24 hours. Applying makeup will cause you to rub the skin, causing the toxins to spread.
- Avoid the sun.
Avoid going into direct sunlight or standing under the sun for too long, for at least 72 hours after your treatment. If you must go out in the sun, apply a sunblock of SPF 30 or higher. Apply it over your face and neck.
